An Indirectly Human Portrait
This drawing is a bit off topic, but nevertheless (according to traditional conventions) it is a portrait.
It’s an antique cloisonné vase, a souvenir from the missionary days of my great-grandparents. It has been skillfully crafted by a human, and therefore reflects human qualities like creativity, appreciation for beauty, and God’s image.
For the record, I took some in-progress photos. It made for a good, frustrating study in ellipses.
I took it a step further and added the teensiest bit of color using watercolor pencils. What do you think?

Wow. I love the subtle colors. Gorgeous.
